It took about 28 years for the inhabitants of the East-Block to tear down the Iron Curtain. In May 1989 the curtain between Hungary and Austria was taken down. Soon thousands of  inhabitants were leaving their country. East-Germany had celebrated it`s anniversary of 40 years, but had to open the frontiers and so the wall in Berlin came down in the night between 9 and 10 november 1989.
